Student Affairs

The Student Affairs Office at KASA High School plays a central role in supporting students throughout their academic journey and ensuring a positive, engaging, and supportive school experience. Our aim is to promote student well-being, personal development, and active participation in school life, while helping students successfully adapt to the academic and social environment of the school.

Through a range of services, activities, and support mechanisms, the Student Affairs Office works closely with students, teachers, and parents to ensure that every student feels welcomed, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. The department focuses on creating a safe and inclusive environment where students can develop academically, socially, and personally.

The Student Affairs section of the website provides information on key services and opportunities available to students, including:

Pastoral Care & Student Welfare

We believe that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and valued within their school community. Our pastoral care system is designed to promote students’ emotional, social, and personal development while supporting their academic success. Through a caring and structured support network, we aim to ensure that every student feels respected, heard, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Pastoral care at the school is provided through a collaborative approach involving teachers, class advisors, the school counsellor, and the school leadership team. Each student has access to guidance and support throughout their educational journey, helping them navigate academic challenges, personal concerns, and important developmental stages.

Support Mechanisms

KASA High School offers a range of support mechanisms to assist students in maintaining their well-being and achieving their goals:

  • Student Advisors & Mentors: Each student is supported by a designated teacher who monitors students’ academic progress, attendance, and general well-being. Student advisors serve as the first point of contact for students who require guidance or support.
  • School Counselling Services: Students have access to confidential counselling services where they can discuss personal, emotional, or academic concerns in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Open Communication with Staff: Students are encouraged to seek advice from teachers, the counsellor, or the Principal whenever they need assistance or guidance.
  • Academic Support & Mentoring: Teachers provide additional academic guidance where needed, helping students manage coursework, develop effective study habits, and improve academic performance.
  • Well-being & Personal Development Activities: The school promotes student well-being through workshops, awareness campaigns, and activities focused on mental health, resilience, and positive relationships.
  • Anti-Bullying & Safeguarding Measures: Clear procedures are in place to prevent and address bullying, harassment, or any form of student misconduct. The school maintains a safe and respectful environment where students are protected and supported.

Through these pastoral care initiatives, KASA High School aims to foster a nurturing school culture where students feel confident, supported, and empowered to succeed both academically and personally.

Orientation

The Orientation Programme at KASA High School is designed to help new students transition smoothly into the school community and become familiar with their new academic environment. The programme provides important information about school life, academic expectations, policies and regulations, and the support services available to students.

During orientation, students are introduced to the school’s facilities, teachers, and administrative staff, and are guided through key aspects of the school’s academic programmes, daily routines, and student responsibilities. The programme also provides an opportunity for students to meet their classmates, ask questions, and gain a clear understanding of the resources available to support their success.

The orientation process aims to ensure that students feel welcomed, confident, and well-prepared as they begin their studies at KASA High School. By providing clear guidance and practical information, the school helps students quickly adapt to their new learning environment and become active members of the school community.

Accommodation

Finding appropriate accommodation is an important part of a student’s transition to life at KASA High School. The school supports students and their families by providing guidance in identifying safe, comfortable, and suitable housing options that allow students to focus on their studies while enjoying a positive and stable living environment.

Accommodation options are available in carefully selected residences and private housing located within convenient distance of the school. These options provide easy access to the campus, public transportation, and essential services. Housing arrangements may include shared apartments or studio-style accommodation, allowing students to choose an option that suits their needs, lifestyle, and budget.

All recommended accommodation options meet basic standards of safety, hygiene, and comfort. Residences are typically fully furnished and may include utilities such as water, electricity, and internet access. Many accommodations also provide shared facilities such as kitchens, laundry areas, and common living spaces.

The Student Affairs Office at KASA High School provides guidance throughout the accommodation process by helping students and their families explore available options, understand application procedures, and receive practical advice about living in Cyprus. While accommodation arrangements are made independently from the school, KASA High School aims to ensure that students are supported in making informed decisions both before and after arrival.

Accommodation assistance is primarily offered to newly admitted students. Students who require support with accommodation arrangements are encouraged to complete and submit the Accommodation Request at least one month prior to their arrival in Cyprus so that suitable options can be identified in a timely manner.

Student Council

The Student Council at KASA High School provides students with the opportunity to actively participate in school life and contribute to the development of a positive and collaborative school community. Through the Student Council, students are able to represent the views and interests of their peers while developing leadership, responsibility, and communication skills.

The council is composed of elected student representatives who work closely with the school administration and teachers to promote student engagement and support initiatives that enhance the overall school experience. Members of the Student Council participate in discussions regarding student concerns, propose ideas and activities, and help organise school events and initiatives.

Participation in the Student Council encourages students to develop important skills such as teamwork, decision-making, and civic responsibility. It also provides a platform for students to express their opinions, share ideas, and play an active role in shaping school life.

Through the Student Council, KASA High School aims to foster a spirit of collaboration, leadership, and mutual respect, empowering students to become responsible and engaged members of both the school community and society.

Elections for the student council take place in November of each academic year. For further information regarding the Student Council, contact studentaffairs@kasahighschool.ac.cy

Extra Curricular Clubs

At KASA High School, extra-curricular clubs play an important role in enriching the student experience and supporting the development of well-rounded individuals. Through participation in clubs and activities, students have the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills, and build meaningful friendships beyond the classroom.

The school encourages students to take part in a variety of clubs that may focus on areas such as academics, arts, culture, sports, leadership, and community engagement. These activities allow students to express their creativity, strengthen teamwork and communication skills, and gain confidence while pursuing their passions.

Extra-curricular clubs also contribute to the vibrant life of the school by encouraging student initiative, collaboration, and active participation in the school community. Through these experiences, KASA High School aims to support students’ personal growth and help them develop important skills that will benefit them throughout their future academic and professional journeys.
