Overview

The High School Programme in Hotel Management & Catering Supervision at KASA High School is designed to introduce students to the dynamic world of hospitality, tourism, and service excellence. The programme combines academic study with practical training, allowing students to gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in hotel operations, food production, and catering management.
Students develop essential skills in customer service, food and beverage operations, front office procedures, hygiene and safety standards, event coordination, and basic hospitality supervision. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving—key competencies required in the modern hospitality industry.
Through guided practical sessions and industry-oriented learning, students gain insight into the structure and functioning of hotels and catering establishments while building confidence, responsibility, and organisational skills. The programme prepares graduates for further studies in hospitality and tourism or for entry-level roles within the service sector, laying a strong foundation for future academic and professional success.

1. Academic Qualifications

Applicants must provide:

• An official High School transcript confirming completion of at least Grade 10, with a minimum overall GPA of 60%,

OR

• A recognised High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or an internationally recognised equivalent qualification with a minimum overall average of 60%.

All academic documents must be officially issued and, where required, translated into English.

2. Age Requirement

Applicants must be between 18 and 21 years of age at the time of application.

3. Online Interview

All applicants are required to successfully pass an online admissions interview.

The interview forms an essential part of the admission process and allows the School to:

• Assess the applicant’s motivation and readiness for the chosen programme
• Evaluate communication skills and level of maturity
• Ensure that the applicant understands the academic expectations and school regulations
• Confirm that the programme aligns with the student’s future goals

The interview also provides an opportunity for applicants to ask questions and gain a clearer understanding of the learning environment at KASA High School.

Admission is granted upon successful evaluation of academic credentials, age eligibility, and interview performance, and is subject to final approval in accordance with School policies and Ministry of Education regulations.

How to Apply

1. Complete and submit the online Application Form

Make sure you upload the following before submitting:

• Scanned copy of the student’s passport
• High school transcripts showing a minimum 60% overall result

2. The Admissions & Enrolment Office will review the application. If the application is approved, a Conditional Acceptance Letter and Proforma Invoice will be issued and sent to the applicant by email.

For international applicants (non-European Union), the following documents will be required additionally.

Assessment & Progression

Assessment and progression at KASA High School are regulated by the school’s Internal Regulations and are designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and continuous academic development of students. The evaluation system aims not only to measure academic achievement but also to encourage improvement, responsibility, and active participation in the learning process.

1. Continuous Assessment

Student assessment at KASA High School is continuous and comprehensive. Teachers evaluate students throughout the school year using a variety of methods. Written examinations are an important component of evaluation; however, they do not constitute the sole criterion for determining student performance. The assessment of a student also considers:

• The overall effort and participation during lessons
• The quality of oral performance and classroom engagement
• Completion and consistency of homework assignments
• Attendance and punctuality
• The student’s general interest and responsibility towards the subject

This holistic approach ensures that the evaluation reflects the student’s overall learning progress and commitment, rather than only performance in examinations.

2. Types of Assessments &Tests

Students may be assessed through different forms of tests and classroom evaluations during the school year. These may include:

• Short tests on the material of the day, lasting up to 45 minutes, and possibly unannounced
• Scheduled tests of one teaching period, announced in advance
• Unit or topic tests, which may be common across classes or individual to each class
• Oral assessments are conducted during the normal teaching process

Students are generally expected to sit only one announced written test per day, although teachers may still conduct normal oral questioning in other subjects during the same day.

3. Grading Scale

The grading scale used at KASA High School is as follows:

The minimum passing grade is 10 (“Almost Good”).

For subjects that do not have a final written examination, the final annual grade is calculated as the average of the grades from Term A and Term B.
For subjects with final written examinations, the final grade is the average of the two term grades and the final examination result.

Students may request to sit additional written examinations in June if they wish to improve their grade in subjects that normally do not have a final exam.

4. Progression

A student is promoted to the next grade if:

• The student achieves a grade of at least 10 in every subject, or
• The student fails one non-examined subject, but the average grade of the examined subjects and the failed subject is at least 10, or
• Fails an examined subject, and the average grade of the examined subjects and the failed subject is at least 12

A student remains in the same class if:

• They fail three or more examined subjects, or
• They fail two examined subjects and two or more non-examined subjects, or
• They do not meet attendance requirements

Students who do not meet the promotion requirements may be referred to re-examinations (supplementary examinations) in June and or September.

5. Re-examination

Students may be required to sit supplementary examinations in June and or September if they fail to meet the promotion criteria. Students who were absent from the June examinations for justified reasons are also examined during this period.

If a student still fails after the June re-examinations in up to two subjects, they may sit a second and final re-examination in September, before the start of the new academic year.

A student is promoted in September if:

• They obtain at least grade 10 in all subjects, or
• They fail one non-examined subject but maintain an average of at least 10 in the examined subjects and the failed subject.

6. Graduation (School Leaving)

Students graduate from KASA High School when they satisfy the academic requirements for the final grade. A student may be awarded the school leaving certificate when:

• They obtain a minimum grade of 10 in every subject, or
• They fail one non-examined subject, but the average of the examined subjects and the failed subject is at least 10, or
• They fail one examined subject, but the average of all examined subjects is at least 12.

Students who do not graduate in June may apply to sit school-leaving examinations in September or the following June, regardless of when the failure occurred.

7. Re-marking of Examination Papers

After examination results are announced, students have the right to request re-marking of their examination paper. Another teacher of the same qualification carries out the re-marking.

Requests for re-marking can be made by completing the Re-Marking form within seven days of the announcement of the results.

Further Studies

Graduates of KASA High School are equipped with the academic foundation, practical skills, and confidence needed to pursue a variety of educational and professional pathways. Upon completion of their studies, students have the opportunity to continue their education at higher education institutions in Cyprus or abroad.

Students who successfully pass an English language proficiency examination, such as IELTS or an equivalent recognised test, may apply for admission to Casa College or to other colleges and universities in Cyprus, depending on the admission requirements of each institution. This allows graduates to progress into diploma, undergraduate, or specialised professional programmes in a wide range of fields.

The High School programme aims to prepare students for the next stage of their academic journey by developing critical thinking, communication skills, and global awareness, enabling them to successfully transition into higher education and future careers.
